Summerhill (Hartlepool) Bird Club

Junior Section

Introduction: We have a thriving Junior Membership. They attend the same meetings as the Adults, but have a separate session in the adjacent room, doing various activities, such as:

Using computer software to help recognise birds by their calls, as well as their appearance.

Inspecting the pellet from a Kestrel.

Making fat cakes to give the birds a yummy treat in the winter.

Doing puzzles, and playing card games.

All this, and much more.

Junior members receive a pair of binoculars from the Club, after being a member for six months. These binoculars remain the property of the Club and should be returned to the Club if the member leaves. The member is free to take the binoculars home, to use on birding visits away from the Club.

One of our Junior Members, Christopher Smith has made a lot of diary entries on the Bird Diary website. It lists his birding trips, and has a list of birds he has seen on each trip. To view Christopher's Diary entries, please click here.
