Coatham Marsh, Redcar

Coatham Marsh, Redcar.

Coatham Marsh is on the edge of Redcar, on the road towards South Gare. It is looked after by Tees Valley Wildlife Trust. It has parking for a few cars, and is a pleasant walk. There are marshy areas here, which attract all the usual birds you would expect, such as Heron, Moorhen, Coot, Mallard, Lapwing, etc. There are bird hides here, but the last time I was there, it looked as though vandals had attacked them, so they were all locked up. Rarer birds which have turned up here include Green-Winged Teal, Bearded Tit, Hobby and Merlin.
