Burn Valley Gardens, Hartlepool

Map Of Burn Valley Gardens, Hartlepool.

The Burn Valley Gardens is a great place for anyone in Hartlepool wishing to start Bird Watching, because there are quite a large variety of birds in a relatively small area. In the Burn Valley, all of the usual suspects are present, Blackbird, Blue, Great and Coal Tits, Sparrow, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Robin, Song Thrush, Carrion Crow, Rook, Jackdaw, Magpie, etc. There are also a few rarer species in the gardens, I have seen Great Spotted Woodpecker, Goldcrest, Redwing, Bullfinch there. I have been told that Spotted Flycatcher are present there, as well. Kingfisher have been spotted not too far away. At the western end of the Burn Valley Gardens is the Burn Valley Family Wood, which is almost over the road from the entrance to Summerhill, giving birds a 'green route' into the centre of Hartlepool.

There is a write up of the Burn Valley Gardens in the February newsletter. Please click here to view it.
